like riding a bike...
i went to visit devon, a friend from high school, today. she now has two kids (hi connor and aiden!) so it was nice to finally see them after all this time. she made a point to mention that the last time she saw me i was 17 (probably really 16 since i was young for my grade...) and now here we are with husbands, kids, and houses! it was really kinda strange. anyway, what was so special about this reunion is that i felt so comfortable around her. you have to understand that in high school we really didn't hang out and i don't think i'd ever been to her house, but we were on the same basketball team. we got really close through that. so to go to her house was kind of a new thing for me today! when i got there...i felt so comfortable! i haven't seen this girl for probably 8 years or more and i had no qualms opening her fridge to see what kind of food she had (it's a bad habit, but i control myself around most people...)! we talked for hours and after i left i realized i didn't once think about going to the bathroom. on my drive home i reflected on our time together and i realized how smooth everything had gone...and how dry my mouth was! we just talked our little selves to death! we are so alike and so different in the same breath. it's really great to have a friend like that. they help keep you in check, but can understand where you're coming from... and those kids she has...forget about it!!! they are darling! connor just wanted to be with me...like sit on me, play with me, touch my baby, watch me nurse... and aiden is just the cutest smiley guy out there! he's a doll! such good kids. and devon is the best mom! she is so patient with her kids and really takes the time to teach them and talk to them like actual people. it was really inspiring. so devon, thank you for being a good friend and a good mom. it means a lot to the people around you, trust me... ( . )( . ) those are for you devie poo
