ok so it didn't really even get that far, but let's start from the beginning. isaac loves playing with phones. he loves the lights and the beeps. i always let him play with them because, well, it never did any harm...until tonight.
my sister was at my mom's and i went over there to have a brownie after isaac woke up from his nap (at 8:30, yes pm). isaac was quietly sitting on the couch with auntie watching "jumper" and playing with the phone. i noticed it started ringing at one point and i quickly grabbed it and hung up. i saw the number and it looked like a 565 number. nothing for me to worry about besides a three second long distance call. then i turn to my sister and joked, "what if he called 911?" and she said, "yeah and he goes, 'deedo'" which is something isaac likes to say...it sounds like "thank you". anyway, that was that and i soon took the phone away from him and gave him something else to play with...the changer.
a few minutes later the dogs start barking and there's a cop outside with a flashlight. i kinda waved like, "oh hi"...such a dork. and he waved for me to come outside. so i walk out there totally oblivious and ask what's going on. he kindly stated how they received a 911 hang up from this number and when they tried to call back it was busy. i dropped my head in my hands and plead for forgiveness as i explained how isaac likes to play with phones and when they called back he was probably just in the middle of a baby conversation with another random number.
he was pretty forgiving saying how he'd rather it be nothing than something. super nice. i think he could tell i was super sorry. the butch lady cop in the background didn't seem so forgiving...shooting daggers with her eyes. she'll get over it. anyway, he took my name...including my middle name and my date of birth. i was thinking maybe i'll be in the paper under the police activity column. i'll search for it and post if i find something.
as i'm walking inside i'm instantly thinking about my blog and how badly i wanted to ask the cop for a picture but how inappropriate it would have been (considering his mean-face partner).
so there you have it. our exciting evening in salem oregon. not long after the incident, isaac started playing with the phone book and ripped out the page that has a huge 9-1-1 on it. he's so smart...

OH MY!!! That is crazy. I can't believe the police actually showed up - talk about "on top of things". Here in Driggs they MAYBE would have showed up 2 or 3 hours later.
Maybe you should invest in a play phone! j/k nothing is the same as the real thing.
Next time you should totally ask for a picture!
This is too funny. I'm just waiting for the day something of this sort happens with us. Taylin does the same thing with my cell phone. Luckily she's only called my mom a couple of times. He's getting so big! Can you even belive we're about to be mom's withe {one} year olds?! I feel so old now. So... when are you coming up again?! It better be soon. :)
oh my gosh! kelly that is funny! i am glad the cop was nice. i am going to call you.
i think isaac is just practicing his phone skills so when he's in college he can prank call people :) hmm . . wonder where he gets it! can't wait to see you and chubby cheeks this weekend!
That's hillarious that he did that! He is a smarty pants.
I think the best memory I've had is definitely camping with you guys... If I remember right you & Derek slept in the back of your truck and didn't it rain??? Anyway it seemed like we usually didn't do anything but hang out at Chris & Tara's or at the Schmidt's house, but I loved just hanging out!
