i have been a terrible blogger lately. here's what's been happening lately. it's been a pretty gnarly few days for me. on saturday i was supposed to go out with the girls and about an hour before i was to leave isaac woke up from his nap SCREAMING! he either had bad gas or was constipated...which i didn't figure out for little while. he finally told me his "poo poos hurt". i had been crying because my poor baby was in such pain and i'm a sucker. so i took him in the shower and tried massaging his tummy. he screamed bloody murder for over an hour...no exaggeration. so i get out of the shower with him (he saw dad and seemed over it) and the girls knock on my door. i'm all damp from sitting in the shower for 30 minutes and i have my robe on. cool. so they went on without me. good thing isaac never screamed again (had i known he wouldn't, i would have left). he ended up taking a poo that night around 10:15 so i was happy. the things mothers get excited about...
so sunday was fairly uneventful. i was so drained from the night before that i just took it pretty easy...as easy as moms can.
monday rolls around and i got a call from my neighbor asking if isaac and i could come and play (cute). so i scrambled myself together to go hang out at the neighborhood park. we played down there for an hour or so and then they had to leave so i thought we'd go to my grandpa's for an hour before isaac's nap. i kept getting the feeling that i should turn around go home, but i didn't listen and proceeded to the farm.
isaac loves it out there. it was really hot on monday and i was showerless since saturday. i thought i'd just shower during isaac's nap. so after we played with the cat, sabrina, picked vegetables, and fed the chickens a hot dog bun, we started to leave. isaac FREAKED out and would not sit in his carseat. he cried and held his breath every time i put him in it. i tried and tried and tried (with the car running...and running out of gas). finally i took him inside the HOT house and tried to calm him down. no surprise when he fell asleep. so he took his nap at gpa's and then after he woke up we played a little more and i tried leaving again. he did THE SAME thing. i was so mad. i didn't know what to do. i tried sitting with him in the back and easing him into his seat...putting the car seat in the front seat...nothing worked. i was so frustrated. finally we went back inside and my brother ended up bringing derik out to drive us home. so what i intended on an hour trip turned into over 6 hours...
and i hadn't showered since saturday...it was like 85 degrees that day.
THEN...i let maren talk me into going downtown with her the next day. isaac apparently thought the dressing rooms at tj maxx were comparable to the doctor's office because he SCREAMED like we were in one. he hates the doctor's...probably because of all the poking and prodding in the ER when he had his seizure... so when we went to leave (me having given up trying things on) he wouldn't get in his car seat again. so i struggled getting my body between two car seats in the back of her car...with isaac in my lap...nursing. so uncomfortable!
i felt pretty defeated. i was down...but not out! i was determined to show him that he could sit in his car seat. (i wish he'd at least throw the fit before we left so we didn't get stuck places...) anyway, wednesday i headed downtown to meet my sisters and derik for lunch. it went without a hitch...until isaac fell and scrapped his already scabby knee. he cried pretty good. derik picked him up and he had this puddle of blood starting to form and in the middle of a huge crowd, without even thinking, i licked it off. then said, i can't believe i just did that. it's what we do, folks. he held his breath when i tried putting ice on it and wiping it off. so i let him put his body against mine and luckily my shirt stopped the bleeding. i thought for sure he wouldn't get in his car seat after that.
derik was nice enough to walk around town with him so i could eat and hang out with my sister. when it was time to get in the car...he obliged! i couldn't believe it. we drove home without a problem. my consolation prize was that he didn't take a nap until 5pm...which means he didn't wake up till around 7...which means he didn't go to bed until LATE. we're talking 1am people!
::sigh::
i was resigned to taking the bus before i tried my last time. here's to keeping on keeping on, right?

That is strange that he holds his breath. Have you asked your dr. about that?
Love the licking of the blood though. Honestly, the things us mothers do for our children.
wowzers. . . rough week girly. I hope it gets better. It's funny how kids have their things that they need control over -- I guess funny is not the word. But I remember Eden used do the carseat thing everywhere we went too.
You definitely do not suck. I mean, I won't nurse my kids past 1 year just because I want the freedom. . . Isaac is lucky to have a mama who will do anything for him :)
this is not the first time you have left me speechless, but it is the first time you have scared me from 2 year olds! Who would blame a kid that doesn't want to leave the party...ever!
I just hope you know you're not alone in this "can anything just go right for once today" world. I laughed as I read line after line relating all too well. My first was just like Isaac and I was always holding my breath and crossing my fingers that he wouldn't fight me putting him in the carseat. It gets better...I promise!!!
That was me! Did you like it?
I am thinking the walk around town with d will get him in the carseat. send d on a trek with him -- its only a couple miles from your house. then by the time he gets back isaac will be ready for the carseat. thats my 2 cents (and my first blog entry in about 6 months) -- trav
